Most of our readers probably haven’t heard of Corpus Christi, Texas. With that said, you probably haven’t ever heard of the up-coming band called, Corpus Christi Connection (3C) either. Well, let’s just say it’s only a matter of time before you and all of your friends are dying to see both. Corpus Christi is no New York or L.A. , but we do offer the incredible talent you’d find in both of those wonderful cities and we’re here to give you all a preview of what we’d like to call ‘the new red carpet’.

The guys of Corpus Christi Connection are talented, funny, down to earth and all of those good things every ‘celebrity’ should be. TheLocalCelebrity.Com got the opportunity to sit with some of the band’s members to have a little Q&A.

It wasn’t your average Q&A because neither of us were afraid to ask/answer a question. Nothing was ‘off the record’ with these guys and we loved it!

To start off, let me introduce you to the guys we met, there was ‘Freakman’, ‘FatAss’, ‘RobRey’, ‘SickMinded’, ‘Eazy’, & ‘J B’.

So let’s get this party start shall we?

We had to know, how they came up with the name Corpus Christi Connection a.k.a. 3C. Well, FreakMan says that him and now close friend known as AG grew up on 2 seperate rival neighborhoods and pretty much became cool when FreakMan moved to AG’s neighborhood. AG was the only guy who was ‘accepting’ of FreakMan, while everyone else pretty much hated on him because he was from ‘the other side of town’. The two started rapping together and thought of the band name because they were connected. In a sense, because of their connection, Corpus Christi was now connected. – I was amazed with that story, because it’s not an every day thing that two guys from rivaling neighborhoods can become close friends.

Now that we knew how they became Corpus Christi Connection, we needed to know what music meant to them. Surprisingly, the answer was simple. It’s “life” to the guys. They made it clear to us that when they are rapping, they’re not always talking about ‘bitches that, hoes this’, but about their actual personal lives. Of course every one wants a club hit, but these guys hit the nail on the head when they told us that because that’s what REAL rap is all about. That’s what started it all.

3C is not new to the rapping game, they’ve all been doing it since their early teen years and haven’t given up on their dreams. They told us exclusively that their first CD is already in the works and hope to have it out later this year. When asked, “Who influences your music both, personally and musically” each had their own answer with their own reason.

  • JB responded by saying that his mom is his biggest influence personally because growing up, she did whatever it took
to take care of him. He goes on to say that Zero is his influence in the industry because Zero raps about what’s “real”.
  • Sick Minded said that the different tragedies he’s been through are his biggest influences and that he likes a lot of
    heavy metal bands.
  • Eazy took no time to think about it and responded by saying that his parents supported him in everything he did, so they
were always his biggest influences, but that 3C is his actual inspiration. He says that his fellow band mates
    keep him going.
  • FreakMan says that his mother and uncle were like his ‘support team’ and told him to never give up on anything he believed
in. He also says that Andre 3000 of Outkast is his biggest influnce in the industry because he’s never afraid to
“think outside of the box” and makes something ‘different’ an automatic hit.
  • RobRey said that his kids are his biggest influences. He says that at the end of the day, rich or poor his kids
will always love him. He said that he does everything he can for them. He also went out to say
that there were a number of people he looked up to in the music industry.

When we all think of rappers, we automatically think ‘naked girls’ in their music videos and a lot of bling right? Well the guys of 3C tell

us that this ‘rapper’s cliche’ doesn’t affect them at all. When they’re not working on their music they have no problem in doing their

part to give back to the community. Freakman said that this past holiday season the guys actually all went and helped out with a local charity and plan to do so through out the year and not just during the holiday season. He made a good point when he said

“Why should we only do it once or twice a year? We should give back to the community on a daily basis, and that’s what3C is going to do”

Now that we got all of the talk bout music, and charity over with we had to get some funny/embarrassing things from these guys. We know what our readers like, and that’s ‘juicy’ info, right?

Well, AndThatsWhatsUp author, Yvonne HAD to ask ‘FatAss’ how the hell he got that nick name, because he wasn’t really a big guy. Well before he even got to resond, Yvonne told him to stand up and show off his ass to prove to her that he had a ‘FatAss’. Well ladies, Yvonne wasn’t happy with what she saw and came to the conclusion that his nick name should now be ‘FlatAss’. LOL. ‘FatAss’ or should I say “FlatAss” I’m sorry you had to be AndThatsWhatsUp’s first Local Victim LOL.

We went on to ask, who gets the most ass? Who’s the man-whore out of the group? All of the guys of course laughed, but with no hesitation said Sick Minded was definitely the man whore. So since he was thrown to us by his fellow band members, we had to get a little more ‘juice’ on him, right? Well, RobRey had no problem giving us a little more. He says that the guys joke around a lot, and he actually had just played a joke on Sick Minded a day or two before the interview. RobRey says that Sick Minded was spending some “alone time” with an un-named female so he decided to start texting Sick Minded from his computer saying ‘Hey, when are you coming over’ and pretty much started cock blocking. Well, SickMinded finally found out it was RobRey and I’m pretty sure RobRey’s cock block strategy worked LOL.

TheLocalCelebrity.Com’s staff then asked the guys if any of them had encountered an ‘embarassing’ moment while ‘rapping’. FreakMan said that a while back he was ‘flowing’ (rapping) with another rapper that he looked up to tremendously and that when it was the other rappers turn, he pretty much just shut down FreakMan then handed him his CD. Well, FreakMan decided to listen to the CD and figures out that the other rapper wasn’t really ‘flowing’ but just ‘saying’ what he had already written down on paper. He says that he felt kind of embarrassed because he looked up to that rapper a lot and felt dumb when he got shut down doing what he loves to do. –BURN I know! When we heard that story we all thought “douche bag” about that other rapper.

Our interview with the guys was only about an hour or so, but in that hour, TheLocalCelebrity.Com’s staff were already some of their biggest fans. We all admired how they were so down to earth and truly cared about the community in which we all grew up in. Every day you hear about big timers like Jay-Z, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt giving billions of dollars to benefit another country, but what about where they’re from? Neither the staff of TheLocalCelebrity.Com or the members of 3C have that kind of money right now, but we all do what we can for our community.  As owner of TheLocalCelebrity.Com, I’d like to welcome Corpus Christi Connection to “The New Red Carpet”

PLEASE, check out their MySpace page by clicking HERE and give them a listen.  Add them as a friend, and watch out for them because I know, they’re going to be ‘big’ very soon! Also, Check out their ‘flow’ about TheLocalCelebrity.Com!
